7 Reasons WWE NXT TakeOver: Dallas Will Be The Best Show Of 2016
3. The End Of Bayley's Dream
Bayley's story has arguably been the most emotive and gripping of any talent in NXT. When she finally grabbed the NXT Women's Championship by defeating Sasha Banks in 2015, it was a real dream come true scenario. Since then, her cohorts in NXT's Four Horsewomen (Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Banks) have all jumped up to the main roster and will compete in a triple threat match at WrestleMania.
Bayley stayed in NXT, and has defended her strap against all comers, including Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax and even Eva freakin' Marie. She has managed to fend off everyone who has stepped up to the plate so far, doing so with the mixture of pride, emotion and ability that got her to where she is today.
If there was an inevitability about American Alpha eventually rising to the top of the tag division, the women's equivalent is a whole lot scarier. Japanese wrestling legend Kana signed with NXT in August 2015, was re-christened Asuka, and has subsequently destroyed everything in her path with a violence not seen in WWE's women's wrestling previously. In many ways, it felt as though Asuka was staying away from Bayley out of patronising respect, to allow the dream to continue a little longer.
Asuka may not beat Bayley at TakeOver: Dallas, but the two should put on a match that rivals anything else that happens over the weekend. Bayley has never faced anyone like Asuka before, simply because there is no-one like Asuka. Whatever the result, Bayley will leave TakeOver: Dallas a changed woman.
