7 Rules WWE Should Bring Back
1. Time Limits
In the past, WWE matches often had a 60-minute time limit. It’s rather difficult to imagine many of today singles matches lasting nearly a full hour, but at one point, it happened quite often. If neither competitor was victorious within the allotted time limit, the bout was considered a draw.
The downside of such as rule was that, on occasion, it led to an anticlimactic ending. However, it was a great tool for both faces and heels.
If two fan-favorites were locked up in battle, especially at the end of a series, it was a way to deliver a hellacious match without either superstar sacrificing some of their luster by going under, and it also helped hint at a rematch with a more impactful ending. For dastardly villains, it added another champion’s advantage. They could win simply by surviving the time limit.
In a world of instant gratification, the fear is that viewers might not stick around if they have to invest too much time on one specific match, but imposing time limits does add a lot of opportunities for wrestlers to shine in longer bouts as the likes of Sting, Ric Flair, and Greg Valentine once did.
