Bayley and Sasha are fighting again. Except they’re not because they’re best friends. Now repeat that for months and months, have Sasha and Bayley forced into counseling for inexplicable reasons, then when Bayley finally snaps and “turns” on Sasha it’s important to then sweep it under the rug and make them a tag team.

That has been the sad history of the recent storyline between the same two women whose feud in NXT is constantly referenced as a foundational building block of the women’s (r)evolution. WWE then teased another emotion-fuelled feud between the two, until everyone lost interest in the whole thing, before abruptly turning them into a full-on tag team. Not to be mistaken for friends who sometimes work tag matches, Bayley and Sasha now have merchandise, matching ring gear, and a team name, horrible though it may be.

That all seems to be a clear indication that WWE is trying to build credible tag teams in their women’s division. Either that, or creative didn’t drop the Sasha and Bayley ball so much as they dropped it, kicked it a few times while trying to pick it up, and then fell into a mud puddle.
