7 Signs WWE’s Brand Split Is Coming To An End

6. Renee Young Is Already On Both Shows

On the first few episodes of the 'new' Raw and SmackDown Live, each show had a different set of backstage announcers. In theory, this would help one stand apart from the other, but the presentation on Monday and Tuesday nights feels identical in September 2017. Renee Young plays a part in that uniform style.

Young is the main anchor backstage on Raw and SmackDown. This flies in the face of the way WWE wanted fans to view the split last year. Wasn't the entire point to make both shows different from one another? As good as Young is at her job, having the same backstage announcer welcoming fans to promos doesn't quite do much to sell uniqueness.

Again, this is a subtle change, but nonetheless an important one long term. If staff members can just blur the lines between Raw and SmackDown, then there's nothing to stop wrestlers from doing the same. WWE haven't even addressed this outside of a basic news post on their website.
