7 Signs WWE’s Brand Split Is Coming To An End
2. All These Superstar Shakeups Aren't Coincidental
The Wrestling Observer reported in late-July that WWE were likely to do another Superstar Shakeup after SummerSlam. That didn't happen, but it doesn't mean the promotion still don't feel it's necessary to move some performers from one brand to the other. The fact there are even rumours about another shakeup is worrying.
If WWE feel they need another mini-draft so soon after the last one in April, then they're clearly not happy with how the rosters look on Raw or SmackDown (or both). After last summer's Draft, fans were led to believe that the rosters wouldn't be touched for a good while, possibly even for as long as a few years. Realistically, that was never going to be the case.
Repeated shakeups shouldn't be viewed as coincidental. WWE moved some stars around just shy of nine months after that big Draft in July, 2016. Should they do another before the end of the year, then that will mean three different roster mix-ups in under 18 months.
If they're not happy with the way things are for nine months, then what future does the brand split have?
