7 Stars Who Became Too Big For WWE

2. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar was on top of WWE within five months of debuting on television. He became the WWE Champion in August of 2002 and he quit the company less than two years later. Why? Because he felt like he was bigger than WWE. He complained about the travel schedule in WWE. In what was considered a very questionable move, he also bought himself a plane to help with the travel. Nobody in WWE does that kind of thing, but Lesnar felt that's what he needed to do in order to last. Eventually he just quit in 2004 and most of us figured he would never be back in WWE again. When he left WWE his hope was to make it in the NFL, but it turns out he wasn't good enough. A few years after that, Lesnar went into Mixed Martial Arts. It ended up being the smartest move of his life. Lesnar went on to become the biggest draw in UFC. His PPV appearances consistently drew over 1 million buys. Only WWE's WrestleMania events could top that mark and even then they weren't doing what UFC was doing with Lesnar as the top guy. While Lesnar's UFC record of 4-3 may not appear to be that impressive (he was 1-0 prior to UFC), it was very good for somebody that was only in the sport for four years. Injuries cut his MMA career short. His return to WWE in 2012 was a surprise. It was also something that showed that he had all the power in the world and that he didn't need WWE. They need him. His contract called for just four matches in a year while appearing about 20 times total in order to build up match. He has been paid approximately $5 million per year since his WWE debut even though he only works 20 days or so. Not a bad gig huh? Lesnar is the current WWE Champion that has become too big for WWE. That's why he's working a schedule that is so favorable to him. You would too if you could.
