7 Stupidest Reasons WWE Refused To Push Superstars

6. Not Enough Charisma (Shinsuke Nakamura)

Remember Shinsuke Nakamura's dramatic NXT debut in Dallas way back in 2016? Charisma was practically dripping from the walls, such was the aura-gasm the Japanese star spaffed when he waltzed his way down the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center's aisle.

Before he even stepped in the ring before a startled Sami Zayn, Nakamura was already a bona fide star, and - if WWE could leave some of their historical biases to one side - would surely ascend all the way to the top. Despite an against-all-senses Royal Rumble victory in 2018, that has not happened; in truth, Nakamura's run on the main roster has been a complete bust.

So what's the big deal? Certainly, questions over an aging King of Strong Style's application have been fairly levelled, but likewise, creative didn't back him when it mattered. One possible reason - as revealed by Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue - is that management believe Nakamura "doesn't have the right amount of charisma" to be a solo success. Shinsuke Nakamura. Not enough charisma. And we suppose Daniel Bryan is a "B+ player" while we're at it?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
