7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 1990

5. Savage And Rhodes Tried To Make A Bad Storyline Work

http://youtu.be/qEyGxOFA-TI A match between Randy Savage and Dusty Rhodes at WrestleMania VI should have been the goal. Instead, WWE decided to put Savage's manager Queen Sherri (she was with him during his heel run) and Dusty's friend Sapphire in the feud. Sherri was very good at her job while Sapphire was awkward at everything. Instead of giving the men the chance to have a regular feud where they could cut amazing promos together, there was a boring Brother Love talk show segment with Sherri and Sapphire getting involved. Dusty and Randy ended up coming out for a brawl. They gave that segment nearly 15 minutes. It took too long. During the Rumble match, Rhodes went right after Savage and gave him a huge back body drop over the top rope to eliminate him. The fans loved that. It was an awesome bump by Savage, who always did things in a spectacular way when given the opportunity. It seemed like WWE was intent on not booking Dusty strongly since he had worked for and booked the NWA promotion for so many years in the 1980s. After all, they named the Virgil character after him since that was his real first name. The booking of the storyline was bad, but Randy and Dusty did all they could to make it somewhat entertaining.
