7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 1990

4. It Was Andre The Giant's Last Royal Rumble

It's significant to note that this was the last time Andre the Giant was in a Royal Rumble. He was actually advertised for the 1991 Rumble too, but had to cancel due to injury. His final Rumble match is significant because Andre probably won more battle royal type matches than anybody in the history of wrestling. He was booked as an undefeated for nearly 15 years before losing to Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 3, so when he finally lost that match it was a huge deal. It was difficult to watch Andre in this match because you could tell he was in a lot of pain. He probably couldn't take a basic back by this point in his career. He ended up getting dumped out by Ax & Smash of Demolition, which did a good job of putting them over. It also made sense because they faced off with Andre & Haku at WrestleMania VI a few months later. It's great that WWE chose to honor him in 2014 with the Andre the Giant battle royal match at WrestleMania 30 that will continue this year and other years going forward. He deserves the attention for all of the great things he did in wrestling.
