7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 1995

6. Jeff Jarrett Beat Razor Ramon In Cheap Fashion For The IC Title

Jeff Jarrett, also known as Double J, was a rising star that was the kind of young heel that WWE needed in the mid-1990s. His gimmick was easy to hate because of how annoying he was and he also had the Roadie (later known as Road Dogg) to help him cheat to win matches. A feud with an established babyface like the Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon was a smart move. Ramon started selling a knee injury, then Roadie attacked the knee without the ref seeing it and that led to a countout finish. Jarrett didn't want the countout win because that meant that Ramon was still the IC Champ. He wanted Ramon to keep fighting, so Ramon asked the ref to restart the match. It's nice to see a match with great psychology. Jarrett worked on the knee after Ramon hurt it and then it factored into the finish when Ramon was unable to hit the Razor' Edge. Jarrett grabbed an inside cradle for the win, which also meant he was the new Intercontinental Champion. Their match wasn't some classic encounter, but it was a lot of fun to watch because it featured a lot of old school wrestling tactics leading up to a finish that made sense.
