7 Things That Must Happen At NXT TakeOver: Orlando

5. Andrade Almas Must Win

We all know the drill by now - top independent wrestler signs with NXT, makes debut in opening match of a TakeOver, wins match, moves on. The former Tommy End is the latest to get the treatment, but the man now known as Aleister Black faces a stiff test in the shape of Andrade 'Cien' Almas.

It is a strange match at first glance. Almas has just begun to build some momentum after spinning his wheels for a while in NXT, but history and logic suggests that that momentum is set to come to a screeching halt against the man from the Netherlands on Saturday.

NXT must buck this trend and move in a different direction. If Almas defeats Black via nefarious means in Orlando, the developmental show could move forward with the two in a program that benefits all involved. Almas would finally have something to sink his teeth in, and Aleister Black could skip the goodwill and water-treading phase that hindered Andrade so much.

The match itself should be a cracker, and giving the two men a lengthy program could lead to something special further down the line.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
