7 Things We Learned From CM Punk's UFC Debut Loss

2. The CM Punk Experiment Must End Now

After his loss to Mickey Gall, CM Punk was interviewed in the cage by Joe Rogan. He suggested that he wasn't done, that he would be back. He gave a very inspirational speech to kids about not quitting when your coaches, parents, teachers etc. tell you that you can't do something you have your heart set on.

Great speech, except when you're talking about a low-level athlete trying to compete against the best in the world... in unarmed combat no less.

Punk in the UFC is basically Pros vs. Joes, and he's lucky he wasn't hurt in the octagon at UFC 203. There aren't really any suitable opponents left for him (save perhaps Mike Jackson, the part-time fighter/MMA journalist who was Gall's original opponent in the UFC). Even Jackson would likely be too much for Punk, and what would be the point of that fight? If Punk loses, it's a bigger embarrassment, if he wins, he's 1-1 and out of suitable opponents in the promotion.

No, this experiment must end now. If Punk doesn't see that hopefully the company will.
