7 Things We Learned From ESPN's WWE Special "Behind The Curtain"
5. Vince McMahon Claims The Roster In WWE Is "Clean"
This question was posed by ESPN's reporter Jeremy Schaap after discussing steroids and drug testing with Vince McMahon: "These guys are clean?" McMahon: "Yes absolutely. We're way past that now." Do you believe that? There's no way of really knowing if it's true. When you look at some of the guys in WWE that are really muscular and look almost like cartoon characters, people have questions about if they are using steroids or some other performance enhancing drugs. Even if there are steroids, should we care? It's not sport. It's entertainment. It's the same thing as Sylvester Stallone juicing so he can be jacked for a Rocky movie. We should care if guys are abusing drugs and getting out of control, but wrestlers are a lot smarter about what they consume on a daily basis these days. It's great that WWE has the Wellness Policy in place, that they test for drugs, that they test cardiovascular health and other things that they didn't test before implementing it in 2006. However, there are still going to be people that doubt the ENTIRE roster is clean of steroids. If there are guys using stuff, it doesn't matter that much anyway. The current WWE roster seems to be a good group of guys that live a healthy lifestyle for the most part. That part of the business has changed for the better.
