7 Things We Learned From ESPN's WWE Special "Behind The Curtain"
4. Bill DeMott Cares A Lot About Wrestlers He Trained
Bill DeMott's departure from WWE in March was a big topic of discussion earlier this year. He quit the job due to former WWE trainees complaining about his overly aggressive teaching habits. If that didn't happen he'd likely still be in the job. As mentioned earlier, the majority of this feature was filmed in 2013 so DeMott was featured several times. We saw him instructing wrestlers at the Performance Center and also some comments from him at sitdown interviews. It was really nice to see DeMott portrayed in a positive light considering his exit in WWE. While there was likely some truth to the allegations about him being a bully to students over the years, there is another side of the story too. He made a positive impact in a lot of people's lives. When you see DeMott instructing talent - particularly Adam Rose - you can see how much he cares about these people. He was so happy for Rose when he did the gimmick change that finally worked for him. He had been training with Rose for about four years at that point and it meant so much to DeMott to see Rose succeed like that. It was like a coach being happy for a player that made a big play to help the team win. Towards the end of the show, it noted that DeMott no longer works for WWE amid bullying allegations. If you hate the guy for what he reportedly did it's understandable, but he was definitely portrayed in a positive light in this show.
