4. Dana White Has Kept Tabs On Punk's Progress

It's not at all surprising to hear that Dana White has been keeping tabs on CM Punk as his training progresses. White calls Punk shortly after his move to Milwaukee, presumably to ask about the move (and what Punk planned to do with his place in Chicago, which he says he is keeping).

However, White also adds in some words of support, and tells Punk that he has heard his training is going well. "Everybody respects you," White says, "talking about how hard you work, how you went in there and took your lumps in the beginning."

To which Punk retorts "I still take my lumps."

While it might have been staged for the show, it's clear White is, well, invested in his investment. The better training goes for Punk, the greater the upside for White and the UFC. In the end, the fight business is a business, which is why this documentary exists.

Interestingly, this is basically the first glimpse of White in the doc, who usually has a higher profile in UFC productions like The Ultimate Fighter and Looking For a Fight. This, however, is very much the CM Punk show, and White apparently has no problem taking a back seat. White also notes that he feels Punk has chosen the right team.
