Roderick Strong defeated Andrade Almas in the second match of the night, managing to escape from the Hammerlock DDT before hitting 'Cien' with the Sick Kick for the 1-2-3. The match itself didn't quite reach Corey Graves' expectations, but calling it anything less than good is simply incorrect.

The two tried to put together a big fight feel-type of match, but Almas' relatively cold position in NXT failed to gel with Roderick Strong's bland babyface character, and as such the match didn't connect with the crowd, inevitable 'This Is Awesome' chants aside. Going into the match it seemed as though Almas was the right choice to win, but on a night full of heel victories there needed to be a babyface victory.

Roddy is still new to NXT, and as such he arguably would have lost more in defeat. Almas may yet come good, but there is work to be done.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
