What a difference a year makes. One year ago you would have been given long odds on Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode headlining an NXT TakeOver show, but that is exactly what the former IWGP Heavyweight and TNA World Champions did in San Antonio.

The entrances alone made this a hit. Bobby Roode was flanked by eight of the most beautiful women to ever step foot in a WWE ring, another glorious arrival for the most glorious man in NXT. No one quite makes an entrance like Nakamura however, the King of Strong Style making his way to the ring with enough strobes to last a lifetime.

The match? The match was fantastic, a match that was arguably better for the characters on display as opposed to the flashiness of either man's offence. Roode seemed to have answers to all of Nakamura's questions, the Canadian using his nous and experience to stay one step ahead of the man from Kyoto.

The injury spot is what everyone will talk about however, with Nakamura favouring his knee for what felt like forever before an incredible near fall off the Glorious DDT. Shinsuke couldn't survive being dropped on his head twice, and we have a brand new NXT Champion. Where do we go from here? Time will tell, but you can guarantee it will be glorious.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
