7 Things WWE Did Right At NXT Takeover 2: Fatal 4-Way

5. The Lucha Dragons Won Gold While The Ascension May Be Gone Soon

The opening match saw the Tag Team Champions The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) taking on Sin Cara and Kalisto aka The Lucha Dragons. It was the first time they've had a tag team title match, so the story going into it was about whether this relatively new team of masked lucha wrestlers could beat the dominant heel tag team champions for the past year. Kalisto's the standout on his team. While Sin Cara (formerly Hunico) is a very good wrestler that knows what he's doing out there, the fans have seen him for years. Kalisto is still relatively new, so everything that he does feels really fresh. He is similar to how Rey Mysterio was in WCW in the mid-1990s when he first made an impact in the North American wrestling scene. They had the support of the crowd as they chanted "lucha" for the masked tag team. It wasn't a long tag match. They went about eight minutes, but it was very entertaining from start to finish. It ended when Kalisto was all alone in the ring with Viktor and he nailed him with the Salida del Sol to win the match and the tag titles for his team. The loss for The Ascension wasn't a major surprise because they have been rumored to move to the main roster for many months. They were actually on Main Event this week. Now that they lost the tag titles it wouldn't be a surprise if they become full timers on WWE's main roster in the very near future.
