7 Things WWE Did Right At NXT Takeover 2: Fatal 4-Way

2. A Two Hour Show That Was Non Stop Entertainment

These two hour NXT specials are like PPVs in the sense that they don't have commercials, but at two hours in length they never drag either. They did a good job of showing video packages of the contenders in the 4-way main event match. There were also videos for several of other matches as well. It was a good way to introduce fans to those characters if they don't want NXT every week. The NXT format works because it's a basic wrestling show. They don't waste time plugging apps or networks. There also aren't 5 replays of the same major segments that we get in a typical Raw episode. Another refreshing thing is that the matches get time. A lot of WWE PPVs are run that way too, but the TV shows are different. A big difference with NXT compared to Raw or Smackdown is that Vince McMahon doesn't have a major say in what happens in NXT. It's mostly a Triple H production. When Vince gets involved in the show the divas get shorter matches and sometimes other things get rushed. That's not say Vince is bad at booking or producing a show. He's arguably the best ever at that stuff. It just shows what WWE might be like when Hunter is really in control. He has his haters, but if you're a fan of NXT then you should be excited about WWE's future with Hunter in power. This is the third NXT special this year. The one they did back in May called Takeover was better as a whole show compared to this one, but there was nothing wrong with what they did here. The main event of this show was better than that one and that's the final thing WWE did right at Takeover II.
