7 Times It Sucked To Be Rey Mysterio
4. 2014 Royal Rumble
The 2014 Royal Rumble wasn’t just a bad time to be Batista, it was a real downer for almost anyone not named Daniel Bryan.
‘The Animal’ received little fanfare upon his return. Not only did he appear much leaner than when he left, it was clear WWE wanted to forge an easy path for him on the way to WrestleMania. But the fans wanted their underdog to finally have his big moment.
Those were the main reasons the future 'Bluetista' was booed. Rey Mysterio was jeers were an unfortunate by-product.
Mysterio was still a fan favourite, but the hope still lingered for the fan's real avatar Bryan to enter the Royal Rumble at the #30 despite not even officially being entered into the match. When Rey popped out instead, it sent the crowd into an uproar. Even during some of his usually well-received sequences, the relentless crowd continued to display their dissatisfaction. And as Batista pointed at the WrestleMania sign, intensifying boos ended the show.
