When asked, Chris Jericho is open and honest about Vince's scathing attack on his United States Title bout with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 33. The pair were up against it from the start; their World Title-worthy feud had been demoted to the second-rate US belt, they were placed second on the main card, and they had exactly no chance of stealing the show.

It sucked, but not as much as McMahon thought they did.

Jericho told the Mature Audiences Mayhem podcast last year that he felt "insulted" by Vince's criticisms after he returned backstage, and said he thought it was crap to take a hot storyline and treat it like an afterthought. The boss, a man Jericho had developed a close bond with, also ripped through the then-Y2J and KO for a match he deemed lacklustre on the night.

Vince thought his United States Title attraction sucked, and sucked bad. Jericho agreed, but only 'cause he thought the friends-turned-enemies angle deserved to be further up the card in Orlando. Meanwhile, poor Owens had to limp off to the locker rooms with his tail between his legs.
