7 Times Wrestlers Recovered From A Burial
2. Booker T (Wrestlemania XIX)
Booker T was a star in WCW. A five-time (five-time, five-time, you know the drill) WCW champion, he was undoubtedly WWFs best acquisition when they bought WCW. His first two years in the now-WWE went well, with him enjoying tremendous midcard success. However, a man with Booker's charisma was destined to soar to the top of the mountain. Eliminating The Rock in a Battle Royal to earn himself a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XIX, and things were looking good for the former WCW United States Champion…
...until he was attacked by Triple H’s stable Evolution, that is.
What followed was without a doubt the most tasteless angle of Booker’s career, and possibly of the millennium. Triple H bombarded Booker with racially charged insults, referring to “people like” Booker and even bringing up Booker’s legitimate criminal past. Every single fan wanted to see Booker T kick Triple H’s ass at Wrestlemania and all their wishes were fulfilled when…
...Booker lost?
Triple H infamously took 23 seconds to pin Booker T in one of the worst booking decisions of all time. For most wrestlers this would have been considered a death knell, let alone a burial. Through efforts that can only be described as superhuman, Booker did end up winning the King of the Ring and became World Heavyweight Champion one more time, and is now a Hall of Famer and beloved member of the WWE, appearing on commentary and pre-show panels.
Good on you Booker, we all dig that.
