7 Times WWE Actually Did Something Classy

6. When They Gave Ric Flair A Proper Send Off

The sad truth for most wrestling marks is that it is not entirely unfair to categorise Ric Flair as a bit of a scumbag. If you€™re not familiar with his shenanigans, I suggest that you get familiar with Google, or at the very least read this excellent Grantland article. However, it is hard to dispute the assertion that he is the greatest wrestler of all-time €“ or at the very least is in the top three. Given the way that Flair was treated by the WWF in the early 90s (poorly) and WCW in the late 90s (incredibly poorly), his enormous contributions to the business felt as if they€™d get overlooked before he finally called it a day at the ripe old age of 146 (that might be hyperbole). However, Flair got his proper send-off from WWE and it was stunning. The Ric Flair retirement episode of Raw was the epitome of a classy tribute show that was both respectful and emotional. Sure, Flair would undermine WWE's efforts by going to work with TNA and doing other indie shows for years afterwards, but the intention was there. But between his outstanding last match with Shawn Michaels and the respect shown by the WWE franchise player (the Undertaker), Flair's retirement show left old school wrestling fans sobbing like babies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMhvgB03JEg
