7 Times WWE Missed Opportunities With Sasha Banks
1. Bayley Vs. The Boss
When Sasha Banks and Bayley faced each other at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, it altered the course of women’s wrestling forever.
NXT has been consistently delivering fantastic matches with its female talent since the days of Paige and Emma. Yet the match in Brooklyn was what really signaled that the days of the 'Diva' were over. From the moment Banks was lifted to the ring by security guards, it became apparent to the crowd that they were witnessing history.
Their main roster feud should have been epic. Bayley was over with the fans in a way that is difficult nowadays for a cookie cutter babyface. The Boss, at her best when she plays a bad guy, teased a heel turn as the fans waited for the moment she would turn on her best friend.
Yet the feud was botched, another example of WWE missing the mark. The Boss and The Huggable One were forced into cringe-worthy counselling segments and an awkwardly teased romantic angle before reconciling and capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Elimination Chamber. If Banks does ever return to WWE then the logical route would be for her to finally turn heel and attack her former tag team partner, providing a catalyst for them to feud over the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
