7 Times WWE Ruined Rusev

4. One Senseless Goldberg Segment

One day after losing a fine Hell in a Cell match to Roman Reigns on pay-per-view, Rusev was speared out of his boots by Goldberg in a nonsensical, unnecessary segment on Raw.

Yes, WWE had to show that the old Goldberg was back, but did they really need to make Rusev look like a jobber at the same time or have Goldberg laugh in his face when provoked? The answer is no, no they didn't, and Paul Heyman's feigned pity only made him look foolish too; a smart and crafty general like Heyman would get himself to safety before worrying about anybody else, especially if Goldberg was still in the ring.

The message was loud and clear: full-time regulars like Rusev were less important than ageing part-timers WWE wanted to heat up quickly. Even long time WCW fans, whether they were happy to see Bill back on television again or not, must have realised that WWE's decision to senselessly feed a major part of their latest pay-per-view to the wolves sucked.

Things would get worse from there.
