Josh Barnett campaigned for the opportunity to fight Brock Lesnar as soon as Lesnar's return to the octagon was announced. Following Lesnar's big win at UFC 200 over Mark Hunt, Barnett immediately took to Twitter and began retweeting fans asking for the pairing to be booked, once again throwing his name in the hat.

Barnett and Lesnar have a common bond: pro wrestling. Barnett is a catch wrestler who has spent a fair amount of time in the professional wrestling world, most notably in Japan, in the NJPW and IGF promotions. He has teamed with Perry Saturn in the past, and wrestled the likes of Bobby Lashley, Yuji Nagata, Ultimate Mask and others.

And, of course, he's a former UFC champion. He never reached the popularity of Lesnar, but then, few have.

Barnett is a threat to submit Lesnar (Barnett's high level grappling was enough to make him the first man to submit Dean Lister in years) , and their wrestling might cancel each other out. That could result in an ugly stand-up fight, but it's still a very compelling match-up.
