7 Most Underrated WWE Rivlaries

4. Randy Orton Vs. Mick Foley

When Mick Foley started to play a major role in WWE programming in late 2003 he did so because he had a plan in mind. He was setting up for a return to the ring and a feud with a rising young start in WWE named Randy Orton. Foley had retired from WWE in 2000 although as we know in wrestling, few people ever really stay retired. Orton did everything he could to piss off Foley from spitting in his face to just being a disrespectful jerk to him. Orton was really earning the "Legend Killer" moniker that WWE gave him. They were first involved in a match together at WrestleMania 20 as Foley teamed with The Rock against Orton, Batista and Ric Flair in a handicap match. It's one of the more underrated matches in WrestleMania history because it was a very entertaining matchup. Their singles match at Backlash 2004 was a Hardcore Match that was one of the best of either man's career. Orton really proved to everybody that he could be a major player in WWE. It's very likely that his performance in that match impressed management so much that it led to Orton winning the World Heavyweight Title four months later. It's likely that Orton was going to be a top guy whether he feuded with Foley or not, but Orton really benefited from it and Foley proved that he still had something left in the tank. He proved it again a couple years later with Edge, which is a more celebrated feud partly because it led to a memorable WrestleMania 22 match with an extremely hot (literally) finish. Don't forget about Foley vs. Orton, though. It was really good too.
