7 Ups & 0 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 14)
The yellow & black brand's hot streak continues.
No, dear reader, your eyes do not deceive you: last night's NXT was genuinely a zero downs episode.
That doesn't mean everything packed within its 52 minutes was exceptional, but it all ranged between good and great. There were a couple of minor gripes, but none big enough to spoil their respective segments, and each was too nitpicky to justify the column space. For the first time in a long time, let's bask in the glory of a rare WWE show that succeeded on every conceivable level.
The night was built around two big title matches, with Ember Moon defending against Shayna Baszler, and Roderick Strong challenging Pete Dunne. Each succeeded, but in completely different ways.
Stars like Johnny Gargano, Andrade Almas, and Velveteen Dream weren't in the building, but appeared in pre-recorded material. Elsewhere, the TM-61 comeback tour continued, Aleister Black set his sights on a huge new target, and there was a welcome comeback in the night's main event.
NXT is killing it at the moment. The brand's current hot streak rivals any other point in the show's history, and while TakeOver: New Orleans is still seven weeks away, the build is already underway.
