3. Nia Jax & Naomi Impress

Triple H showed a lot of faith in Nia Jax and Naomi by giving them the main event spot on Friday night. Yes, there was another short promo skit to close the show after them, but that was backstage not in-ring. So, this Women's Title showdown was the main course on SmackDown. It's legit lovely to say that the match didn't disappointment. It didn't even come close to sagging.

This was the best Naomi bout in a long time.

Nia continues to impress during her stunning WWE reprise as well. The champ is carrying herself with supreme confidence, and she's managed to cut out the clumsy botches that blighted her previous record. A few comments online called this main event overbooked, which is fair enough if some felt that way, but the drama surrounding both women enhanced their match rather than wrecking it.

All the moving parts were formatted well. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez ambushed Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair backstage, Tiffany Stratton came out to help Nia, Bayley evened the odds, then Candice LeRae helped Jax win. Finally, that samoan drop and Annihilator combo Nia does for her finish? Killer. It's believable that nobody's getting up from that if she hits both.

Quality of matches and storytelling can veer wildly in the women's division depending on the week, but this was ace. Everyone involved had something to gain by poking their nose in (Liv and Raquel want the Women's Tag belts, Tiffany is stringing Nia along before cashing in MITB, Bayley was looking out for her mate Naomi, and LeRae is eager to prove her worth to Jax), so well done to agents for cramming so much in without squashing the headliner.
