7 Ups & 0 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 25)
5. Short But Sweet
IYO SKY and Zelina Vega didn't get nearly as much time as Rey and Waller, but they maximised their minutes to enter a fine showing that acted as a solid first successful title defence for IYO. Vega is great as a plucky underdog babyface. She's truly found her calling in this sort of role.
OK, there was zero chance of her leaving with the WWE Women's Championship, but the match plugged a gap with aplomb and now SKY can move onto bigger and better things. Meanwhile, Zelina's credibility isn't harmed by putting the champ over. Fans know this is what Vega is on the books for, after all.
Perfectly acceptable booking and in-ring work then.
You just know moans about the complete absence of Shotzi will rear their ugly head next week, but now isn't the time for that. These women, like the lads before them, had to try and up energy levels inside the building. The fact they managed that speaks volumes to their chemistry.
