7 Ups & 1 Down For AEW Collision (Jan 20 - Results & Review)

1. A Good Main Event Highlighted By Prickish BCC Behaviour

This week, it was Eddie Kingston & Ortiz vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson in the Collision main event spot. And while the bout wasn't the best on the show - that'd likely by Garcia vs. Matthews - it was still a solid way to close out the broadcast.

This 16-minute match didn't quite reach the upper echelon of certain stunning Collision main events, but it was nonetheless a good tag offering, seeing Danielson score the win after hitting his busaiku knee on Ortiz. Elsewhere, Claudio brilliantly put Ortiz into his patented big swing earlier on, and there was just a general sense of d*ckhead behaviour to the two Blackpool Combat Club men throughout.

Whether it was Bryan cockily highlighting his greater cardio to Kingston during the opening moments, or the American Dragon shockingly spitting in the Mad King's face moments after putting Ortiz down, this felt like a more heel BCC than has been seen in recent months. After all, this is a faction who are at times total A-holes who take great entertainment in knowing they're just better than everyone else, but this is a faction that also often gets cheered due to the people in it and due to the fantastic work they put in. Here though, Bryan in particular seemed to take great pleasure in leaning towards his more heelish tendencies.

With his post-match comments to the camera, it certainly looks like Danielson is on a mission to strip Eddie Kingston of his beloved Triple Crown - which should continue to make for excellent pro wrestling television.
