7 Ups & 1 Down For AEW Collision (Jan 20 - Results & Review)

2. Garcia & Matthews Of Course Deliver

For full disclosure, Buddy Matthews could well be the wrestler who your writer most enjoys watching in the world right now. There's just always such a snap, an aggression, a crispness, an energy, and a meatiness to all that the Australian brings to the table with his offense, plus he's a top, top tier seeler. Obviously, Daniel Garcia is a phenomenal professional wrestler who is destined for a big future.

So, it comes as no surprise to see Matthews and Garcia put on a hugely enjoyable 11-minute back-and-forth here, with Red Death getting the jacknife pin from out of nowhere.

While Matthews always felt in control of the match, that didn't step some great Garcia comeback spots; be that the piledriver on the apron or by locking in a sharpshooter. As a magnificent example of how Buddy was always ahead of his opponent, that sharpshooter was broken up by Matthews smashing the head of Garcia into the mat. Lovely stuff. Also lovely, was the HOB man's sell job that had you questioning whether he'd really injured his leg.

Particularly good to see, was the continuation of the FTR and Daniel Garcia alliance, with Dax and Cash out to ringside to accompany Garcia and nullify any interference from Brody King and Malakai Black.

Of course, post-match saw a brawl between all six men, complete with the locker room flooding the ring to stop the chaos. Coming out of that, Dax Harwood laid down the challenge for what could and should be a phenomenal contest next week - FTR & Garcia vs. House of Black in a steel cage elimination match.
