7 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 14)
1. The Counter-Siege
Gather your superlatives, because SmackDown's closing segment was one of the best the blue brand has produced in months.
Raw's counter-siege was predictable, but it doesn't matter. Striking back against the Tuesday night show was exactly what Kurt Angle needed to do. Team blue has dominated the inter-brand rivalry thus far, and after his most recent emasculation at Stephanie McMahon's hands, the Olympian would've looked like the biggest wet blanket in the company if he hadn't retaliated.
It started with The Shield, who ambushed The New Day after their match with Owens & Zayn. The Usos and The Bar were out next, before a stream of red and blue shirts flooded the ring, with both brands' male Superstars ripping into each other. Meanwhile, Raw's women took the fight to their counterparts backstage, storming their locker-room, laying each of them out.
Braun Strowman was the difference-maker. The big man's arrival completely swung the pendulum in Raw's direction, and Shane McMahon was soon at Angle's mercy. He ordered The Shield to lay his rival out with a triple powerbomb, and while this was his side's first offensive move, it was also the arc's most decisive. Each participant killed it throughout what could've been a crowded clusterf*** of a segment, and the sight of Raw standing tall made for a powerful image heading into Survivor Series.
