7 Ups & 1 Down From WWE SmackDown (Sep 3)
3. Seth Rollins Get Edge-y
Was that Edge or Seth Rollins in there with Cesaro? That's a joke, obviously, but Seth borrowed his SummerSlam rival's Impaler DDT, Edge-O-Matic, that crossface finish he does with the leg of a chair, and then went for a Con-Chair-To on the Swiss star to top it off.
This imitation-heavy performance was outstanding.
It's even better that it was plain as day. Seth has been saying for weeks now that he learned a thing or two from Edge in August, and this match was in-ring evidence of that influence. This is one of the better stories in wrestling right now, and it doesn't need to stop post-Extreme Rules. WWE could easily ride this out through to 'Mania if they take breaks in between chapters.
The way Rollins is messing with Edge's mind is cerebral, and his tributes fit the match structure without making Cesaro look like a tool for falling victim. It's inconceivable to think that Seth and "Zazzaro" (as Rollins calls him) could have a bad match.
