7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dark (Jun 22)

2. Brian Cage vs. Robert Anthony

This was a great bit of business.

Casual observers may look at the 58-second runtime and assume this skippable, though they'd be wrong. The match was born of Robert Anthony tweeted Tony Khan to request it after the disrespect Brian Cage has shown Anthony's old pal, Jon Moxley, whom he used to run with in CZW. It also took Moxley 12 minutes to put Anthony away a few weeks ago while 'The Machine,' who challenges for the AEW World Title at Fyter Fest, needed less than a minute.

Little touches like this aren't essential to the story but reward you for paying attention, further highlighting the extent of AEW's creative power.

Anthony jumped Cage out the gates and looked for shock and awe, though he was soon put down by a fierce lariat. It was all Cage from there. 'Mr. Get My Sh*t In' lived up to his nickname, bludgeoning 'Ego' all around the ring, eventually putting him down with the Drill Claw.

Fantastic.
