7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (January 10 - Results & Review)
4. A Very Fun Eight-Man Tag
This was a very Tony Khan match, but given why it was held, he can be forgiven for leaning on the babyface supergroup trope he rendered charmless throughout 2023.
Adam Copeland, Preston Vance, Orange Cassidy and Dustin Rhodes defeated Lance Archer, Brian Cage and the Gates Of Agony. The basic story saw the Mogul Embassy untrusting of Archer, the outsider - at last, a random squad don't automatically get along for the convenience of a match! - and the faces as a result using their smarts to get past the grunting alpha hoss types whose caveman egos never allowed to get themselves into lockstep.
It was breezy, all-action fun, and while the action itself wasn't prime, spectacular AEW multi-man fare, it was very over in that enchanting building and all of it was timed incredibly well to keep everybody guessing - some achievement, given that there was only ever one result.
There was only ever one finish, too, and AEW nailed it: paying tribute to Mr. Brodie Lee, his protege Preson Vance, who looked determined to impress throughout, smashed Kaun with the Discus lariat for the pin.
