The Blackpool Combat Club defeated a CMLL four-man unit of Magnus, Volador Jr., Esfinge and Rugido. It was essentially a welcome back match for the returning Wheeler YUTA, who took the pinfall win. It more or less existed just to be nice, but it had the decency to turn into something very exciting in the second half after the odd awkward blip in the first.
The exchange between Claudio Castagnoli and Esfinge sparked the match into life. Claudio, it won't surprise you, was once again fantastic in the lucha environment. He took two monkey flips from Esfinge. Both times, he flew across the breadth of the ring and, allowing his opponent to look like a threat, only tucked his neck at the very last second. Volador Jr is incredible, like PAC doing Manami Toyota in his physical movements with his sensational float-over Code Red. The match was built around YUTA, who was up to the task of starring in it.
Weirdly, Bryan Danielson was mostly anonymous and Jon Moxley undermined the flow and excitement by telegraphing certain spots with some obvious positioning. This was a very unnecessary end to a feud that was thought done months ago. Most seemed to accept that it went 50/50 in the end, as a politically delicate novelty.
