7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (9 Feb)
Ups...
7. The Tolle Screwjob
After Havok's victory over Tasha Steelz last Tuesday, it was Nevaeh who defeated Kiera Hogan this week, guaranteeing the duo a shot at Fire N Flava's Knockouts Tag Team Championships on Saturday night at No Surrender. Unfortunately, this bout wasn't quite as good as Havok vs. Steelz, but it was still fine.
Nevaeh decimated 'The Hottest Flame' with ease, as commentary hyped up her superior height advantage over Hogan (she's a whole five inches taller, according to their respective Wikipedia pages). A stiff roundhouse kick, in particular, knocked Kiera senseless. An interfering Codebreaker from Tasha resulted in a disqualification win for Nevaeh, while the defending champions insist referee Brandon Tolle screwed them over.
This wasn't anything too special, really. If you had to choose between the two, Havok vs. Tasha is definitely the bout to go out of your way to watch. It was just superior in all aspects; in-ring quality, storyline continuation, character development. Nevaeh vs. Kiera, meanwhile, was merely alright.
On a side note, Steelz making use of a Codebreaker after she and Kiera have been quite vocal about wanting to debut for All Elite Wrestling could be some foreshadowing that we can reflect on in the future should they show up. AEW have made it no secret how much they enjoy little hints along the path.
