7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT UK (Oct 24)

2. British Wrestling's Forgotten Man

Good grief, this Eddie Dennis stuff is fantastic.

Some of our sport's best character work comes from real-life situations. This is the case with Dennis, who gave up his well-paying teaching job to pursue his wrestling dream last summer, and is now finally in a position to start reaping the rewards, 10 years after lacing up his boots for the very first time.

WWE played on this with last night's promo, as the Welshman ran through his journey to WWE, and the frustration he faced watching friends Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews prosper while he was working a full-time job. Excluded from both UK Championship Tournaments, he was still the scene's forgotten man, and it ate away at him, birthing a sense of resentment bubbling beneath every word today.

It helps that Dennis is a great talker, but WWE is presenting him perfectly. He comes off relatable, justified, and entirely convincing, and it'd be awesome to see him finally break out of the shadows.
