7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE Raw (1 April - Results & Review)

Don’t think it isn’t lost on anyone who knows their sports movies what WWE was doing Monday night with Chad Gable and Sami Zayn.

A training montage, with a severe underdog who secretly doubts himself, preparing for a title match against an unbeatable champion, in Philadelphia? Come on, this is every Rocky movie plot rolled into one, and it worked exceptionally well.

Gable ran Zayn hard at the Performance Center until Sami flipped on him for trying to run him into the ground. That’s when Chad pulled out of him that Sami is afraid of letting everyone down, of failing, of disappointing his family. Gable wisely pointed out that Zayn is at his best when people doubt him, and that he needed to find that hunger and desire to prove everyone wrong.

And that fire was on display later, but it deserves its own praise…
