7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 18)

6. Big E Won’t Forget

Where are WWE going with Big E?

That's a valid question, but it's not strictly negative. E's time with the Intercontinental Title was relatively brief, and he doesn't seem poised to rocket into the Universal Title picture and face Roman quite yet. Even so, he's one of SmackDown's better babyfaces, and this attention to detail proves it.

Kevin Owens plugged E as something special at Gorilla. He went overboard with the compliments, and there was an almost-disingenuous vibe to his words. Big E spotted that, then sort of returned the favour by simply saying that KO is talented. When Owens asked, "Is that it?", E said old wounds are hard to heal.

Boom - there's your winner. Owens duped New Day a few years back by pretending to be a nice guy, so it's logical that E is reluctant to fall for those tactics again. To his credit, KO played along and said, "That's fair". His history precedes him.

Great continuity.
