7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (March 26)

3. The Tension

Opening segments have become a SmackDown strength in 2021.

This one between Edge and Daniel Bryan was no different. Firstly, Bryan justifiably moaned about his old pal's chair shot at Fastlane. After all, he'd just made Roman Reigns tap out, and "should be Universal Champion right now". Second, Edge. Just Edge generally, man. He's been killing it for weeks.

The Royal Rumble winner made it crystal clear that he needs to headline WrestleMania 37 because it'd crown his journey back from retirement. Meanwhile, Daniel feels like time is running out for him to headline the biggest pay-per-view of the year again too. Everything these men said was 100% believable.

They've gone from friendly rivals to competitors who wouldn't think twice about caving one another's heads in if it meant getting close to that Universal prize. Not only does that accentuate the importance of the title, but it also makes Roman Reigns look like the guy to beat.
