Billy Gunn Paul Wight
AEW

Billy Gunn turning heel on Paul Wight could have been cut and pasted from a 1998 episode of Raw. It was a big misread on AEW's behalf, because who is really watching this show to watch two ageing WWE veterans working heat angles for a QT Marshall feud?

Are we getting Paul Wight vs. heel Billy Gunn on television now?

A segment that started with QT and some of his Nightmare Factory trainees offering Wight a fight saw the former Big Show march down, throw hands, and find support in Gunn Club, who stood by him at first. Billy attacking Wight with a chair inspired shock in Marshall, who hit the ring to pick the bones after the Gunns were done.

It's a bad look for AEW to book this kind of angle with these specific participants on their main television show. Such content plays straight into the hands of the bad faith actors waiting to jump on this promotion's every decision and in this rare case, the criticism is warranted.
