7 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Mar 22)

5. A Cohesive Unit

Eli Drake and Eddie Edwards are quite the oddball pairing. While both former World Champions, they have completely different styles in the ring and are presented as different characters. They faced KM and Fallah Bahh this week in a match that showed how well they’ve come together in the last few weeks, despite originally coming together with different views on hardcore wrestling.

Drake’s views against hardcore wrestling have clearly went away by now as he once again used Kenny the kendo stick to assist he and Eddie to another victory. It’s still not entirely clear if Eli and Eddie are supposed to be portrayed as the good guys here and if so, the use of a kendo stick doesn’t particularly work against the loveable buffoon tandem of KM and Bahh. A victory nevertheless though.

Although the duo came across as pointless at first, that opinion has changed as the pairing are now one of the more enjoyable segments of the weekly episodes. The differing personalities have made for an excellent unit in Impact’s tag division. Who would’ve thought all those weeks ago that Eli Drake and Eddie Edwards would become, well, an actual team?
