4. Rollins Lands The First Blow

Throughout the build for the World Heavyweight Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins the two have managed to sell the match without physicality, relying on the strength of Drew’s promos and Rollins’ resolve as he juggles two feuds – to McIntyre’s chagrin.

Monday night, the two clashed one more time, but this time with an added catalyst: CM Punk. The three verbally sparred in a feisty segment, which will be broken down a bit more later.

But the development directly related to the title match was the revelation that Punk will be on commentary during that bout, which then led to the challenger taking his eyes off the prize. McIntyre has chastised Rollins for being distracted by this Bloodline tag match and not focusing on their world title contest. He’s repeatedly urged Rollins to stop focusing on Roman Reigns and The Rock and worry only about their match.

Then on Monday, McIntyre unwittingly showed just how obsessed he is with Punk, donning both of his T-shirts with Punk’s name on them, sitting cross-legged on the commentary desk, and then finally charging into the ring – after Punk had left. McIntyre screamed at Punk, ignoring Rollins – who promptly super-kicked and stomped him into the mat.

Suddenly, Drew was the one distracted and not focused on his big match. And now, Punk will be ringside on commentary at WrestleMania (at Drew’s request), so that obvious distraction will be front and center during the biggest match of his career.
