7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (Oct 17)

Ups…

7. Some Love For Kevin Patrick

Last week, Raw rolled out a new commentary team for its season premiere episode, and to be fair, it was a rough go for new play-by-play man Kevin Patrick.

The former backstage interviewer struggled a bit at times, and it was tempting to give him a “down” last week, but you need to be fair and give someone a chance before passing judgment. Monday, Patrick turned in a much better performance that shows he has the potential to be a solid guy in the booth.

Hopefully, we’ll continue to see and hear the progression during the next several weeks, to the point that he’s well-regarded. More importantly, we could use some stability in the booth, considering that Raw has seemingly cycled through commentary teams in recent years. Consider that Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler seemed to have the announce desk on lock for a decade with only a couple of detours.
