7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (10 Jan - Results & Review)
6. Los Garza Show Babyface Chops
There was a time when the thought of Los Garza getting a progressive, career-enhancing 10 minute match on TV seemed impossible. Honestly, who really has a clue if Angel and Berto will be babyfaces longer term, but they certainly did a bang up job filling that role vs. Pretty Deadly on SmackDown. Here's hoping Triple H gave both a big thumbs up once they came back through the curtain.
Garza vs. PD moved along at a good pace, and it actually had some context due to all of the ‘who attacked The Street Profits?’ stuff that’s been happening behind the scenes recently. Also, what a finish Los Garza have. It looks sensational. Of course, none of this will matter if creative don’t keep spotlighting these teams. Hopefully they do and reports of Hunter shining a bright light on overlooked talent with these three hour SmackDowns ring true.
Legado del Fantasma could use a break from the folks penning this stuff, to be honest. Elektra Lopez looked good during her Women's US Title tourney match before, and Santos Escobar is one hell of a worker bell to bell himself. Go the spitfire babyface road with the stable and WWE might find they should've been the real LWO all along.
Maybe that's harsh on Rey Mysterio, Zelina Vega and pals. Anyway, Los Garza needed a win like this. Pretty Deadly will be absolutely fine too. They're the human punching bags of the tag division, and that's a role Kit and Elton play well. If nothing else, it's refreshing to see more tag-team issues play out on mainline TV.
