7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (28 Feb)

Downs...

3. The New Tag-Team Champs Lose

The Miz John Morrison
WWE.com

The Miz and John Morrison didn't need to lose here.

Yes, WWE did want to pile on the pressure and pretend that Elimination Chamber is a worthwhile speed bump on the road to WrestleMania, but there's no excuse for undermining new champions right off the bat. By losing to The Usos (flashy finish or not - more on that later), Miz and JoMo looked flatter than New Day's pancakes.

The heels had only won the SmackDown Tag Titles approx 24 hours before this. Remember all that gushing praise about how WWE format shows and storylines during this time of the year? Forget it in this entry. This loss only happened because they want to stretch things out and need to fill time on needless pay-per-views before Tampa.

Miz and Morrison went from looking like worthy champions to scrambling losers who should run for their lives in the face of babyface strength. This defeat was totally avoidable; some sort of non-finish would've been fine.
