7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (9 Mar)
3. This Charming Man
He's a little wooden on the microphone, Wardlow, but it doesn't even matter. This guy exudes charm. An inherently likeable human being who doesn't need to be the most expressive orator to get and stay over, he compels the viewer to root for him, regardless of the situation, and it was great to see him enjoy extended microphone time for the first time in his AEW run last night.
Wardlow spoke of taking control of his own destiny by no longer living to make other peoples' dreams come true. MJF gave him a way to provide a better life for his family, but he's finished with that, now, sick of existing only to build another man up. Though still employed by Max, he's done caring. He's free of the Pinnacle, ready to become TNT Champion, and focused on making AEW Wardlow's World.
A necessary follow-up from the pay-per-view and a good preview of what to expect when Wardlow challenges Scorpio Sky next week. You'll get one of two things:-
1. Wardlow flattening the new TNT Champion completely.
2. MJF returning to screw his employee.
It'll likely be the latter, given how heavily Wardlow leaned on being "done" with Max. Nonetheless, it's the right story.
