7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (9 Mar)

2. Hello Jeff

Look, this segment wasn't perfect. Matt Hardy and Andrade El Idolo's promos leading up to the climax felt stunted and awkward, as if both knew they were only filling time before the inevitable, and Private Party flipping their thumbs from up to down could have been seen a mile off. That The Butcher and The Blade didn't get a vote on Hardy's AHFO status was weird, too.

But Jeff Hardy's debut hit the right notes - and that's what really matters.

The classic Hardy Boyz WWE theme drew a massive pop from the crowd. Yes, it was a tad silly of Jeff to pause to do his signature dance while his brother was getting the sh*t kicked out of him, but after months of tumult, it was nice to see him back on a television screen.

A real feel-good moment played out as the Hardys embraced in the middle of the ring, not shy of letting their emotions take control. Jeff earned that. The circumstances of his WWE release are murky and convoluted, but with the company seemingly scrambling to bring him back recently, it's clear that the whole picture hasn't yet been revealed. Here's hoping he kills it in his new home nonetheless. Guy's a star. Always has been, always will be.
